As I was on a visit to all the famous places in Trivandrum, on my last day in the city, I came across the Theerthapada Mandapam near the Padamanabha Swamy Temple in the East fort area. I was actually visiting the Padamanabha Swamy Temple. I had the mesmerizing experience in the Temple, it was so calm and relaxing. After about 1 hour or so, I found my way out of the temple to visit some other places.
As I was about to board an auto, I saw one big red board reading “Theerthapada Mandapam”. Somehow I thought this might be related to the temple. I went inside to have a look and found it to be an auditorium. The auditorium is open from both the sides. In the front there is a stage that is of medium size and perfect for cultural and traditions shows. The wall opposite to the stage is all painted with different figures which I guess are depicting the cultural and traditional stories.
It has a capacity to entertain a large number of people. Even though the day I visited there were no events there were many people who were sitting to relax there. As the auditorium or the Mandapam as they call it in the local language is near the famous Padamanabha Swamy Temple, the environment is all calm and relaxed. It serves as the venue for most of the religious as well as the cultural and traditional events from the government as well as private events.
The venue can also be hired for the private events. You can contact on the following contact numbers for the enquiry as well as booking of the Theerthapada Mandapam.
